28/03/2017: We had the Pick & Pay  sponsored competition yesterday afternoon. We had  52 players who enjoyed the afternoon. The team of Bruce Hullet walked away with the honours with a shot  difference of plus 17 and a final score of 30 against 13.
bowls-news9a 01/12/2016: The last competition which was sponsored by the Ear Institute took place last Tuesday (22/11/2016)  and was well supported by the bowlers. Apart from the prize money the staff from Ear Institute spoiled us with lovely eats. The winning team with a score of 18 against 6 was from left Stef Pretorius – Moira Hutchison (skip ) and Frikkie Senekal.
bowls-news6a 23/11/2016: The last weekend was a busy one for the Umhlali Bowlers. On Sunday (20/11/2016) a number of our bowlers played in the Food Lovers sponsored competition. The winning team was Rod Bishop – Ken (Skip) Rod Cawood and Henry Welthagen that obtained a total of 20 out of thirty points beating the team that came second by one single point.
bowls-news8abowls-news7a 23/11/2016: A number of our members also played in the Semi finals of the Port Natal Ladies and Men’s Pairs. We are indeed pleased that two of our teams played in the Ladies and Men’s Final. The Ladies Colleen Mckee and Sue Hutchison received the silver Medal. bowls winners 18/11/2016: On Tuesday the 15th November the monthly competition which is sponsored by Pick & Pay was played. The team that won was unstoppable and won with a score of 37 against 8. The winning team was from left to right Sue Hudson (skip) Barbara Fourie (third) Frikkie Senekal (lead) and Pat Weissenborn( Second).

Rod Bishop and Dennis Dicks 16/11/2016: Last week end the Spoed Singles Championship took place despite bad weather on Saturday but continued on Sunday and after many close games Rod Bishop (left) ended up as the champion after beating Dennis Dicks (right).

img_1194 31/10/2016: Last weekend 56 players participated in the mixed pairs championship. The Semi-finals and the final game were played on Sunday in unpleasant raining conditions but the rain did not affect the quality of the bowls.Last years’ champions Di Montgomery and Dave Riley successfully defended their title in an exciting game against Sue and Errol Hudson.
bowls-news25102016 24/10/2016: The Umhlali Bowls members played this weekend the Handicap Singles Championship. Despite very hot weather on Saturday and soft rain on Sunday a large number of players participated and many of the games were won by small margins. The final game in the ladies section was contested between two of our Provincial players Moira Hutchison against Cheryl Mostert.
bowls-news25102016-2 24/10/2016: An exciting game which Moira won with a small margin. In the men’s section Krish Mudaly beat Frans Fourie with one point on the last end to walk away with the spoils.
bowls-news30082016-2 26/08/2016: The ladies pairs bowls championship was played recently and after some exciting and close games Maureen Schneeberger and Dorothy Wynne walked away with the trophy (pictured left and right). The runners up were Moira Hutchison and Val van der Linde.
bowls-29082016a 26/08/2016: The monthly Pick 'n Pay sponsored competion was held on 23 August. It was a most enjoyable afternoon with 60 players participating. The winning team was (from left) Brian Walker (skip ) – Doreen Knight – Ollie Wilkins and Rod Bishop.
bowls-news1a 19/08/2016: The monthly food lovers competition was played recently. All the participants had a most enjoyable morning. The winning team Moira Hutchison(skip) – Peter King and Cliff Hutchison obtained 24 points out of a possible 30 points and had a shot difference of 34.
bowls-news2a 19/08/2016: UCC's Faan Rossouw was crowned the Gauteng singles Bowls champion just before moving to Ballito and he attended the prize giving ceremony last weekend.
bowls-news3a 19/08/2016: The All Natal Ladies Singles was played recently and UCC's Linda Tolmay lost in the semi final but walked away with the bronze medal after a play off. Left to right – Linda Tolmay – lady President of Kingfisher district – tournament sponsor.
